Entertainment Weekly has released the covers for the next two stories from ‘Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy’ e-series. The first Bitter Tongue, releases August 18 and the second, The Fiery Trial, on September 18.

When an Academy mission goes wrong, Simon is kidnapped by faeries (why is he always kidnapped?). He must escape the Fey, relying on his only ally, former Shadowhunter and Dark Artifices character Mark Blackthorn. – EW

Simon and Clary witness the parabatai ceremony of Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn…and discuss their own parabatai plans in this precursor to The Dark Artifices. – EW

I’m especially excited for The Fiery Trial, since it leads us directly into The Dark Artifices.

Cassandra Clare named one of ’13 Female YA Fiction Authors That Owned 2014′

With 2014 drawing to a close, Bustle has released a list of 13 Female Young Adult Fiction Authors That Owned 2014. Of course, Cassandra Clare finds a mention.

Cassandra-Clare

Looking for a writing partner in the YA world? Cassandra Clare is the absolute best you could get — and she has a dozen or so books lined up through 2017 to prove it. Young adult fantasy and scifi powerhouses Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, and Cassandra Jean teamed up this year to release The Bane Chronicles, devised of their short stories surrounding one of the fan-favorite character of the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices series. Plus, she worked with Holly Black to release the amazing The Iron Trial, which is the beginning of a new middle grade series. Oh, and of course there’s that highly anticipated sixth book of the former series, City of Heavenly Fire Clare pushed out in 2014. Clare also teamed up with illustrator Hye Kyung Baek to release a Manga version of the latter series, with Clockwork Princess released this year.

Cassandra Clare & co to write ‘Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy’

Shadowhunter Academy

Just like The Bane ChroniclesCassandra Clare is teaming up again with Sarah Rees Brennan, Robin Wasserman and Maureen Johnson for a new book titled, Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. The book will include 10 short stories released as e-books  once every month, starting February 2015.

According to Cassie, the stories will be about Simon (as had been speculated before), and we can expect to see Jace and Clary, Will and Jem, Tessa, and Emma.

“Wrapping up the Mortal Instruments series was a hugely emotional time for me. It was so hard to let the characters go, but I felt I’d left them in good places. All except Simon—his ending was unconventional and open for more story. I knew I wanted him to go through the training process to become a Shadowhunter, something we haven’t really seen,” Clare told  EW in an exclusive statement.

Cassandra Clare addresses ‘City of Ashes’ filming, Jace Herondale and more!

Posted on Updated on

My friend Mariyam from Page To Premiere got the awesome opportunity to chat with Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan at the City of Heavenly Fire London Event, earlier today.

Some excerpts from the interview can be read below:

[SPOILERS!]

Q: You said that Emma (Carstairs) was the best Shadowhunter since Jace, what does that mean exactly? Does Jace somehow become a worse Shadowhunter?

A: I had written that Emma looked up to Jace and wanted to be like him and that she wanted to be the pre-emptive Shadowhunter of her generation. Like Jace had been the pre-emptive Shadowhunter of his generation and probably still is. All it means is that she looks up to him and she wants to be the toughest, the bravest and she wants to kill the most demons. It was never meant to be a dark portrayal of Jace’s future and he doesn’t actually get any worse at Shadowhunting.

Q: As a massive fan I was just wondering when filming is going to start for City of Ashes? Do you know if Jamie will still be playing Jace?

A: I don’t know, I would think so, I would personally be surprised if they didn’t have him. They had to completely redo the entire screenplay, which takes a long time but believe me you wanted that screenplay redone! I will tell you one thing that is, Clary split into 2 people that both looked like her and had a shovel fight with one another. (Sarah Brennan) Oh and of course Magnus running for mayor of New York. (Cassie) I thought you liked when Jace rode the mermaid! The cast was never the issue, the script was the issue but I have been told that I would hear from them in the next couple of weeks! I mean he (Magnus) would make a great mayor in principle but a race of peoples entire reason for being is to hide themselves from Mundanes, probably running for mayor isn’t a good idea.
