‘Jennifer and Kristen have done such a great job of navigating that; they’re witty, strong, funny, cool, young women. It’s really just nice to see that it’s possible to go through something like that and still be genuinely awesome people.’

‘When I first met with agents I was asked, “Well, what makes you so special? Everybody in LA is a cousin or a daughter of someone.”‘

She adds: ‘At the beginning, that was the most interesting thing about me. Now I’ve done eight films, it’s an afterthought. I get kids who say, “Oh, I love your movie, but my mum loves your dad.” It’s really nice to be able to share that with him, but it doesn’t define who I am career-wise.’

Keeping this strictly in the RUMORS department for now, there’s a casting call for the next installment in The Mortal Instruments franchise, City of Ashes, available online. TorontoFilm.net is reporting the casting calls, in Toronto on August 14, for a multitude of fantastical creatures, and dropped in that English actress Lily Cole is playing the Seelie Queen.

The Constantin Film, Screen Gems feature “The Mortal Instruments: City Of Ashes” will be holding a background performer casting call, Wednesday August 14, 2013, prepping for a Toronto principal photography shoot, September 2013.
Casting is looking for “…5 different groups of otherworldly creatures…” :

‘WEREWOLVES’

Lumberjack/biker types, big, rough, hairy, 18-45 yrs, any ethnicity.

‘WARLOCKS’

Exotic looking/Asian/Persian/ interesting looking MEN ONLY any ethnicity EXCEPT for Caucasian. The following actor Godfrey Gao plays ‘Magnus Bane’ the ‘head’ warlock. This should give you an idea of what they’re looking for 18-45 yrs.

‘FAERIES’

Pale, skinny, fragile with wide set eyes. Lily Cole is playing the ‘Queen of the Faeries’. Men and Women 18- 40 yrs, any ethnicity.

Some of you might remember Lily Cole as Greta in Kristen Stewart’s Snow White and the Huntsman. However, her casting at this point, I emphasize, is a rumor. No confirmed word is out from the studios yet.

On preparing to be Clary Fray:

“I re-read the first book again [before filming]. I definitely did my research with the book. I talked to [author] Cassandra Clare about it, but the rehearsals were what really got me into Clary’s mindset. It was more about being on set, living in the moment, and seeing what came to me.”

Lily Collins talks MORTAL INSTRUMENTS, Clary Fray, auditioning for Twilight and lots more

In an exclusive interview with Crave Online, Lily Collins talks about The Mortal Instruments, Clary Fray and more. She discusses auditioning for Twilight, reading script for Beautiful Creatures and more adaptations and how the circle of contemporary actresses all work around.

Read excerpts below:

CraveOnline: Had you gone out for any of the other teen literature properties? It seems like you would be in the right bracket as all of them have been developed.

Lily Collins: Yeah, one of my first auditions actually was for Twilight which is really funny now thinking about it.
Which role?

For Kristen’s role.
Oh, for Bella?

For Bella, yeah. This was many years ago. I was new on the scene, new at auditioning and it was always kind of this, “What’s going to happen?” everyone in the waiting room waiting for you. One of those anxious days as a young actor. I remember reading scripts for Beautiful Creatures and all those. I think every young actor or actress in Hollywood starts to read some of the same material but I think everything happens for a reason and everyone who gets the roles they get were meant to. I’m a firm believer in that.
