We’ve been waiting to hear this since San Diego Comic Con last year when it was announced that Jordan Kyle will be entering the show.
Entertainment Weekly is now confirming that Chai Hansen will be playing the role.
“Jordan comes into Simon’s life in a fun, unexpected way,” showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer tell EW. “The two instantly hit it off, but we soon find out there’s a lot more to Jordan than meets the eye, and repercussions that affect more than just Simon.”
While book fans know Jordan’s backstory and his (fraught) relationship with existing characters, let’s see how Jordan is adapted on screen and whether he’ll remain true to the book character!
Shadowhunters season 3 premieres a month earlier than the previously announced date: Tuesday, March 20th at 8/7c on Freeform.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Katherine McNamara talked Jace and Clary, Clary’s relationship with Jonathan and Valentine, and more, in light of the summer finale of Shadowhunters tonight.
“The exciting thing about Clary and Jace right now is that for the first time in the series, they’re both in a place where they’re open to the possibility of a relationship and they’re open to exploring what this connection between them really is,” McNamara says. “Up until this point, one of them has either been suppressing feelings or running from them — one thing or another has been in their way and now they have this opportunity. Despite the impending doom and the other prevalent issues that need to be dealt with, they’re finding that their connection is extremely powerful and you saw that in that scene in the courtyard when they were tracking Jonathan. There is a power in their connection, there is a power in their emotions for each other that goes beyond any attraction, it goes beyond any flirtation. It’s truly a spiritual thing and there’s a power in that that we will see play into their attempts to defeat Valentine and the Seelie Queen.”

At the New York Comic Con, the cast of Shadowhunters talked to Entertainment Weekly about interpreting the books for TV and adapting it.
On handling Jace and Clary’s relationship, Dominic Sherwood says that though the TV is the “body” where the books were a “skeleton,” they have kept true to most of it. “It’s not like Jace hooks up with Simon (Rosende).”
Added Kat McNamara, “We get to go places the book didn’t go to. We still go from point A to point B, but the journey through which we get there is a little different. It’s our own interpretation, our own journey. I really think fans both of the book, and new fans of the Shadow World will enjoy it.”
