60 Seconds With… Lily Collins:
Your favorite period in fashion history: ‘I love the 19th century: the corsets and layers upon layers of material. Id love to play Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice because of the character and clothes.’
Fantasy red-carpet dress: ‘Anything by Vivienne Westwood is extraordinary.’
Your style icon: ‘Audrey Hepburn had an elegance that surpasses any time period. When she smiled, she lit up a room.’
You know you’ve been to a great party when… ‘you wake up the next morning smiling’

Teen.com has partnered with Screen Gems to bring fans of The Mortal Instruments an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the first movie, City of Bones, in the form of diary entries written by author Cassandra Clare while on set in Toronto.
Teen.com has now released Day Four:
Day Four: Thursday
Today is a really late start day because shooting went late the night before, and there’s a mandated 12-hour turnaround for cast and crew so everyone can sleep. It’s also the day we have Grace, who is our girl from the Make-a-Wish foundation, on set. It was her wish to be on set for the City of Bones movie. I’ve actually corresponded with Grace before and sent her a bunch of iratze charms, which she still has. I’m so touched she kept them so we have a little moment, hugging and dancing around the costume room. Grace sobers up when she sees some of the Magnus’ party costumes, which are ever so slightly on the naked side. Fun, though. Brocade jackets! Crazy boots! Backless dresses! Sparkles everywhere! Grace winds up with a nicely tasteful look.
As we told you previously, Clary Fray actress Lily Collins was scheduled to attend the Clockwork Princess Book Tour at Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles tonight. Along with her, director Harald Zwart, too, surprised the audience by attending the event for the last book of The Infernal Devices trilogy. Check out photos in the gallery here.
A Tumblr user recorded a video of Lily talking about the characters and what it was like working with Jamie Campbell Bower. You can check that out here.
Here’s what Lily said about working with Jamie:
Working with Jamie was amazing, literally, when I say he’s Jace, he genuinely is Jace. I can’t wait for you guys to see what’s up with the character. He’s got that cockiness, sarcastic, the hot thing going on. He shows a real vulnerability, that you know… it takes a real man to show real vulnerability. Working with him was amazing and you know he’s very supportive but also a real joker.
Fellow authors on the tour with Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson and Sarah Brennan tweeted info from the event, which we have compiled below:
- Harald says he loved filming a movie with a strong female lead, &
@cassieclare & @lilycollins are awesome women.
- If lily could play another tmi character it would be Magnus. Hot, great parties, gets with lots of guys
- Harald the director says making
@cassieclare‘s book into a movie was so much fun, you have no idea. 😉

As promised, MTV has released their new exclusive video from The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones set. Clary Fray actress Lily Collins is the focus of the video and the cast and author Cassandra Clare sound off on her.
Watch the video below:
Lily Collins on Clary Fray:
“I love the stories. I love Clary because she’s this heroine who’s this normal girl, who finds out she has these powers,” the actress told MTV News during a recent visit to the Toronto-based set. “The emotion is there. It’s not just a CGI world. It’s not just a translation of a book. It’s more emotionally, character-based than just aesthetically beautiful.”
“I love Clary. I love this series,” she enthused. “I’m so ready. I’m so ready to be a Shadowhunter a little more since I’ve only gotten a taste of it in this film.”
Jamie Campbell Bower on Lily:
“To get to watch Lily do something — that’s really amazing,” he said. “There have been times I’ve been in a scene with Lily, and she’s doing something, and I just zone out, being like ‘God, you’re brilliant. Oh wait! I’m actually meant to be saying something.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, crikey! There’s words at this point.’ “
Robert Sheehan (Simon) on Lily:
“She’s an absolute star and incredible, on-the-moment brilliant actor and consummate professional,” said Robert Sheehan, who plays Clary’s best friend Simon. “It’s lovely to have someone like that for the really emotional, dramatic stuff. That’s what really makes the film, first and foremost, a human story. Because if it’s not that, it’s not really relatable or interesting.”
Cassandra Clare on Lily:
I think, physically, Lily is incredibly like Clary.
