The Teen Choice Awards 2018 were held on Sunday night, August 12.
Shadowhunters picked up the award for Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV show, along with Matthew Daddario‘s Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV actor.
Katherine McNamara expressed her thanks to the fandom on Twitter earlier:
Congratulations to everyone involved!
The rumors had been floating online about this one for a while. Freeform has officially confirmed that English/Australian actor Luke Baines is now playing the role of Jonathan Morgenstern in Shadowhunters 3b.
Jonathan is finally shedding the identity of Sebastian Verlac (played by Will Tudor) and we get to see him in the remaining episodes of the season.
Here’s Luke introducing himself to the SH fam:
Katherine McNamara and Dominic Sherwood too reacted to the news on their Twitter accounts.
Shadowhunters will wrap up in spring of 2019 with 12 more episodes, although a strong #SaveShadowhunters campaign is currently underway on social media and in the offline world.
We’ve been waiting to hear this since San Diego Comic Con last year when it was announced that Jordan Kyle will be entering the show.
Entertainment Weekly is now confirming that Chai Hansen will be playing the role.
“Jordan comes into Simon’s life in a fun, unexpected way,” showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer tell EW. “The two instantly hit it off, but we soon find out there’s a lot more to Jordan than meets the eye, and repercussions that affect more than just Simon.”
While book fans know Jordan’s backstory and his (fraught) relationship with existing characters, let’s see how Jordan is adapted on screen and whether he’ll remain true to the book character!
Shadowhunters season 3 premieres a month earlier than the previously announced date: Tuesday, March 20th at 8/7c on Freeform.
At New York Comic Con, Shadowhunters revealed its first trailer for the upcoming season three. It includes a glimpse at Lilith.
Check it out below.
In addition, we also heard that Hamilton star Javier Muñoz has been cast as a “rival warlock to Magnus Bane” in the new season.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Katherine McNamara talked Jace and Clary, Clary’s relationship with Jonathan and Valentine, and more, in light of the summer finale of Shadowhunters tonight.
“The exciting thing about Clary and Jace right now is that for the first time in the series, they’re both in a place where they’re open to the possibility of a relationship and they’re open to exploring what this connection between them really is,” McNamara says. “Up until this point, one of them has either been suppressing feelings or running from them — one thing or another has been in their way and now they have this opportunity. Despite the impending doom and the other prevalent issues that need to be dealt with, they’re finding that their connection is extremely powerful and you saw that in that scene in the courtyard when they were tracking Jonathan. There is a power in their connection, there is a power in their emotions for each other that goes beyond any attraction, it goes beyond any flirtation. It’s truly a spiritual thing and there’s a power in that that we will see play into their attempts to defeat Valentine and the Seelie Queen.”
